Report: Arsenal preparing late move for Osimhen following injury crisis

Stephen Oladehinde 15:57 - 19.01.2025

Arsenal are set to take action in the transfer window as they prepare to make a move for Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen.

The Gunners have been hit with a lot of injuries in attack since the start of the season, which has affected their performance.

Currently, Arsenal are without Gabriel Jesus, Nathan Nwaneri and their best player this season Bukayo Saka, with two of them ruled out for a long time.

Arteta’s men have struggled to have sufficient attack players on their bench, which also showed in their 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Osimhen on Arsenal’s radar

Arsenal have entered the race to sign Nigerian international Osimhen as they look to bring in an attacker this January.

According to Pete O'Rourke on X, “Arsenal are exploring a move for Victor Osimhen as they look to bolster their attacking options before the close of the transfer window.”

The Gunners injury crisis has given Arteta no choice but to go into the transfer market for an attacker.

Right now, Arsenal only have three forward starters, Gabriel Martinelli, Trossard and Kai Havertz in attack and just one attacking substitution, Raheem Sterling in their ranks.

With the title challenge slipping away gradually, Arteta is keen on bringing in a new attacker and has sighted Osimhen as the striker to take them to the finish line.

The Super Eagles star is currently one of the most in-form strikers in the world, having scored 14 goals in all competitions for Galatasaray this season.

The striker has made it clear that he will not leave the Turkish champions in January and Arsenal will need to convince him to leave.
