Newly promoted Sporting Lagos remain without a win on the road after another barren outing against Enugu Rangers.

NPFL giant Enugu Rangers are back to winning ways after ending their five-match winless streak against Sporting Lagos.

Rangers defeated the newly promoted side 2-0 during their week 14 clash in Awka City on Sunday.

Strong Start from Enugu Rangers

The encounter saw two teams in need of points, Rangers, who had gone five matches without a win, and Sporting Lagos, who were looking for their first away win of the campaign.

Enugu’s Flying Antelopes started the brightest and needed just 10 minutes to break the deadlock when Austin Onyeamaechi fired them in front.

It was no less than the host deserved as they dominated to go into the break with a narrow lead.

Late Goal Seals The Win

The second half was more of the same for the home side, who pressed for the second goal to wrap things up.

However, a more defensive performance from the Tech Boys limited Fidelis Ilechukwu’s Antelopes until the hosts were handed a lifeline with a late penalty.

Agu Kenechukwu stepped up to the plate to convert the resultant spot kick to seal the win and three points. The win was a much-needed one for the Enugu boys whose victory ended a run of five matches without a win.

For Sporting Lagos, their wait for a first win on the road in the NPFL following a historic promotion from the NNL continues.
