Javier Tebas defends LaLiga after Real Madrid star Vinicius accused the league of inaction the in face of racism.

LaLiga president Javier Tebas has once again taken to Twitter to defend the league, and criticise Vinicius' statement on the Spanish top flight's stance against racism.

The Real Madrid player was a victim of racist insults in Los Blancos' 1-0 loss to Valencia at the Mestalla.

Following the incident that saw him get red-carded, the Brazil international took to his social media to criticise the league's 'inaction' against racism.

What Tebas said

As we reported previously, the administrator took to Twitter to reply to Vinicius, accusing him of not cooperating with the league in their attempts to curb racism.

In his response to the same post today, the president defended the league and the Spanish people, believing that the Real Madrid star had incorrectly characterized them as racists.

His statement, in a list of four, is as follows:

1. Neither Spain nor @LaLiga is racist, it is unfair to say this.

2. At @LaLiga we report and go after racism in the strongest possible way within our remit.

3. We have reported nine instances of racist insults this season (eight have been against @vinijr). We always identify the thugs responsible and take the complaints all the way to the relevant bodies, who have power to punish them. No matter how few they are, our efforts are relentless.

4. We cannot allow the reputation of a competition which is above all a symbol of unity between communities, where over 200 black players from 42 clubs are welcomed with respect and love from fans every week, to be tarnished. Cases of racism are an extremely rare occurrence (nine reports) which we are committed to eliminating altogether.

Meanwhile, FIFA president Gianni Infantino has issued a statement supporting Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior after the Brazilian was allegedly racially abused during their LaLiga game at Valencia.
