Jose Peseiro's former Super Eagles assistant Finidi George and Enyimba had a bad day at the office against Akwa United.

Enyimba emulated Darwin Nunez's remarkable woodwork record but suffered for it as they went down 3-1 to Akwa United in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Monday.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that just like Nunez did for Liverpool against Chelsea last month, Enyimba hit the frame of the goal three times during their defeat in Uyo.

Finidi George and his reigning NPFL champions were denied by the woodwork on three occasions, led by free-kick specialist Imo Obot as they matched the feat of Nunez who struck the post and crossbar four times.

While Nunez's historic quartet of woodwork strikes did not yield any goals for Liverpool, teenager Sani Suleiman was on target twice for Akwa.

Enyimba's consolation goal was scored by Chijioke Mbaoma.

Suleiman bagged a brilliant brace including a solo effort for his first goal after rounding Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke.

David Philip had earlier opened the scoring before Suleiman's excellent strike put the hosts 2-0 up, rendering Mbaoma Chijioke's late penalty to half the deficit to a mere consolation for Enyimba.

Suleiman's man-of-the-match display continued his hot streak after netting a wonder solo goal in the previous game against Sporting Lagos.

The 19-year-old followed that up with another eye-catching double as Akwa claimed their first win in three matches.

While they couldn't quite match Nunez's four-hit woodwork record, Enyimba will be ruing not making more of their three strikes against the frame of the goal.

In the end, it was Suleiman celebrating a famous win for Akwa - though Enyimba's woodwork woes at least put them in illustrious company alongside Nunez.
