Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly close to landing his first signing of the summer to begin the club's summer rebuild.

Manchester City bolstered their Champions League aspirations with a late victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday, but the Cityzens are already planning to reinforce their squad this summer.

The goalkeeping position is a key area targeted by manager Pep Guardiola, with Ederson expected to depart after a long and successful tenure at the club.

Porto’s Diogo Costa is poised to replace the Brazilian star, with reports suggesting this could be the first signing of City's summer rebuild.

Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are also reportedly in the race for the Portuguese shot-stopper.

According to FootMercato, contact between City and Costa has “intensified” in recent weeks, with super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the player, “pushing for a deal” with Manchester City.

The club was convinced as early as February that Costa would become their next No. 1, and they are now prepared to negotiate with Porto for a potential transfer

The goalkeeper's contract, which runs until June 2027, includes a €75 million release clause, and City are expected to negotiate for a lower fee, with all parties reportedly keen to make a deal happen.
