Kylian Mbappe reportedly lost the PSG captaincy votes heavily.

Kylian Mbappe had reportedly lost the election to be the captain of Paris Saint-Germain this season by a considerable margin, getting only one vote.

What happened

Last week, the new PSG manager, Luis Enrique, explained that he was not one to select who the captain is, as was done by Erik Ten Hag in selecting Bruno Fernandes as the Manchester United leader.

He said that he leaves the decision for the players to make, and they will do so through a confidential voting process.

Mbappe, who is one of the leaders of the dressing room, was also involved in the polls, and his constant transfer saga seems to have alienated him from the dressing room, as he barely got votes.

According to CAT radio, the French forward, who is already captain of Les Bleus, desired to wear the armband for his club side too; however, the squad voted differently.

How the PSG squad voted

Marquinhos, who inherited the armband from his compatriot Thiago Silva upon his departure to Chelsea, retained the trust of the dressing room and reportedly got the most votes.

Portugal international Danilo Pereira got the second most votes, while left-footed centre-back Presnel Kimpembe polled the third most votes.

Kylian Mbappe reportedly only got one vote, and despite Enrique's earlier claim that the process would be confidential, reports surfacing today revealed that only his pal, Achraf Hakimi, voted for him.
