I'm staying here — Kylian Mbappe sends message to PSG
Kylian Mbappe has sent a message to the Paris Saint-Germain hierarchy after scoring their only goal in their Ligue 1 encounter against Toulouse.
Mbappe transfer saga
The 25-year-old has been involved in another transfer saga this transfer window, with several reports surfacing over his future and possible continuation with the French giants.
The French world champion was set for a dream move to Real Madrid before a shocking U-turn saw him sign a contract renewal with PSG.
He penned a new two-plus-one-year contract for the French giants, with the player reserving the right to trigger the extra year. This current saga began when he informed PSG weeks ago that he would not be triggering the additional year, which would make him available to leave on a free transfer.
The club’s leadership then went on to give him an ultimatum: sign an extension or leave this summer; however, Mbappe is insistent on staying for the final mandatory year of his contract.
The club went on to freeze him out of the squad, making him train with the ‘undesirables’ and dropping him from their preseason tour. However, they have now returned him to squad dynamics.
What Mbappe said
Following PSG’s draw in their first game of the season and the announcement of Neymar’s agreement to join Al-Hilal, the former AS Monaco star was returned to the Parisian squad.
He came on against Toulouse yesterday to devastating effect, winning a penalty and scoring it to put his side ahead in the game.
After scoring the goal, he celebrated while saying, “I am staying here, I am staying here,” per GFFN.
The French champions went on to draw the game, but Mbappe’s statement reinforces his desire to not leave this window.
