Tottenham's opening goal in the final of the Europa League against Manchester United has caused fans to call for Andre Onana's head

Manchester United fans have once again taken aim at Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana after conceding the opening goal in the Europa League final against Tottenham.

Fans on social media have poured out their frustration on Onana, with some even labelling the former Ajax and Barcelona man the worst goalkeeper in Manchester United history.

Scrappy Johnson goal gives Tottenham lead over Manchester United

Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Tottenham in the Europa League final with a goal fitting the scrappy, disjointed affair against Manchester United.

With the first half grinding to a drab conclusion, Johnson took advantage of a mix-up in Manchester United’s box to squeeze the ball into the net past Onana.

The goal was initially given as a Luke Shaw own goal, but upon further review, was credited to Tottenham’s Johnson.

Onana blamed for Tottenham opener

Following Johnson’s opening goal, fans were quick to turn on Onana, with many calling the Cameroonian goalkeeper the worst in Manchester United history and others asking for him to be sold.

Although replays suggest that there was little Onana could have done to stop the ball from going over the line, fans spared no expense to throw vitriol at the Red Devils’ shot stopper.

Fans on X were quick to bring up former Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic’s famous quotes calling Onana the worst goalkeeper in Red Devils history, with one user even adding, “Whenever you think Onana has played his worst game, he surprises you with an even worse game next time.”
