NPFL: Remo Stars sweep League Bloggers Awards, Enyimba's Obioma wins big

NPFL players were celebrated at the League Bloggers Awards with Remo Stars the biggest winners of the day.

It was a dominant outing for NPFL club Remo Stars in the 2023 League Bloggers Awards, LBA.

Remo Stars proved to be one of the biggest winners on the day as LBA rewarded NPFL stars and teams for a successful season.

In what was a clean sweep for the Sky Blues, Pulse Sports was in attendance as Remo swept the awards. 

The 2023 League Bloggers Awards were held at the Lagos Oriental Hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

In a well-attended event, the Sky Blues went home with the goalkeeper of the year, defender of the year and coach of the year awards. 

Club captain, Nduka Junior, was named the defender of the year while his teammate Bankole Kayode was named the goalkeeper of the year. 

Kayode beat off competition from two Super Eagles goalkeepers, Ojo Olorunleke or Enyimba and Victor Sochima of Rivers United.

Remo boss, Daniel Ogunmodede also went home with the coach of the year award, beating off competition from Finidi George of Enyimba and Monday Odigie of Bendel Insurance.

Chukwuemeka Obioma wins big

Elsewhere on the day, it was not all gloom and doom for NPFL champions Enyimba as their superstar Emeka Obioma was named the player of the season.

Obioma whose 16 goals inspired the People’s Elephant to a historic ninth NPFL title beat Ebube Duru of Rivers United and Kayode of Remo to the award.

Edo State won the best in government sponsorship award while their club, Bendel Insurance and Sterling Bank went home with the brand sponsorship crown.

Rivers United’s Albert Korvah was named the best foreigner in the league while former Lobi Stars man, Joseph Atule was the surprise winner for the midfielder of the season.
