James Maddison’s first-half goal sealed the victory, as United fielded a depleted squad with several academy players on the bench due to their ongoing injury crisis.
Postecoglou’s brutal response to question about Man United’s injury crisis
When asked about United’s struggles with missing key players, Postecoglou fired back, pointing out that Spurs had dealt with similar challenges for months.
With Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Toby Collyer, and Christian Eriksen all unavailable, and Amad Diallo out for the season, United were forced to rely on several untested youngsters on their bench.
Chido Obi, Sékou Koné, Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson, Elyh Samuel Harrison, Jack Fletcher, Jack Moorhouse, and Ayden Heaven were all named as substitutes.
Despite the situation, Postecoglou wasn’t buying into the sympathy angle. Speaking after the game, the Australian coach said: "Man United with many injured players? If I check my office, I don’t have any sympathy cards from other coaches.
"I could see Ruben there, players out of position, kids on the bench… welcome to my world. But that's for one game. Now do that for two months."
Spurs bounce back amid frustration
The victory over Manchester United was crucial for Spurs, who had been under immense pressure after back-to-back domestic cup exits.

A pre-match protest from Tottenham fans frustrated with chairman Daniel Levy highlighted the growing discontent among supporters, but Maddison’s winner helped lift the mood at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Postecoglou acknowledged the pressure but insisted his squad remained focused on improvement, saying, "Everyone likes an impending car crash. I am sure we had a lot of people willing that scenario on. I know how hard these players have worked."

While Tottenham were still without key figures like Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, and Dominic Solanke, they were boosted by the returns of Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie, and Wilson Odobert.
The result sees Spurs leapfrog Manchester United into 12th place, with 30 points from 25 games, while United slip further down to 15th as their nightmare season continues.
