Newcastle Ready to Break the Bank to Keep Isak from Liverpool and Other Suitors
The Swedish international has been the subject of transfer speculations this summer, with top European clubs vying for his signature.
Liverpool have shown strong interest in the striker, who scored 27 goals last season as they look to bloster their attacking ranks.
Arsenal and Barcelona are also monitoring the 25-year-old, who was signed from Real Sociedad for £63 million.
Newcastle to renew Isak's contract
According to The Times, the Magpies are set to table a deal that would make the Swedish striker the highest-paid player in the club's history.
Isak currently earns £150,000 a week, with his existing contract running until the summer of 2028, as reported by Sportal.
The report doesn't specify the exact financial terms of the new deal, which is intended to secure Isak's future at St. James' Park.
The same source reports that Newcastle are concerned Liverpool have the resources to make a substantial offer for Isak, despite already breaking their club record to sign Florian Wirtz.
There are fears at St. James' Park that the Anfield club could make a move as early as next month.
