Super Eagles duo Moses Simon and Chidozie Awaziem were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline in the Ligue 1 clash between Nantes and Toulouse.

Although Awaziem failed to come on for his official debut, Simon played for 68 minutes as Les Canaris lost their first home game of the season in front of an enthusiastic Stade de la Beaujoire crowd.

How it happened

A rematch of last season's Coupe de France final that afforded the hosts a chance at revenge for a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of their visitors.

Nantes pressed early on and were rewarded for their industry in the 13th minute of the game when Cristian Casseres Jr. fouled Samuel Moutousamy in the box. Mostafa Mohammed stepped up to take the resulting penalty and made no mistake, firing past the Toulouse shot-stopper.

The hosts had the chance to double their lead minutes later, but Moses Simon's shot was tipped over the bar by Guillaume Restes.

The visitors came out in the second-half much improved and reaped rewards around the hour mark when Zakaria Aboukhal got on the end of an inswinging Moussa Diara delivery.

The match looked headed for a draw but for Rasmus Nicolaisen's late intervention. The centre-back rose highest to head Fares Chaibi's corner to earn Toulouse maximum points.
