Slot hopes Salah wins Ballon d'Or, and plans a gift for Xabi Alonso
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that he hopes Mohamed Salah wins the Ballon d'Or after his impressive performance.
Salah’s phenomenal campaign has seen him lead Liverpool to their second Premier League title, showing his unmatched goal-scoring and playmaking abilities.
With 28 goals this season, five more than any other player, and 18 assists, Salah is on the brink of making history on the league’s final day.
He could become the first player ever to clinch the Golden Boot, Golden Playmaker, and Player of the Season awards all in the same campaign.
His 18 assists are just two shy of the all-time single-season record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Combining goals and assists, Salah has been involved in 46 goals this season, setting a new record for a 38-match Premier League season.
He is just one goal involvement behind the overall Premier League record of 47, held by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole from their 42-match seasons.
At 32 years old, Salah continues to shatter records as he climbed to third on Liverpool’s all-time scorers list with 244 goals.
He began the season as the 11th-highest scorer in Premier League history but has surged to fifth with 185 goals, trailing only Alan Shearer (260), Harry Kane (213), Wayne Rooney (208), and Andrew Cole (187).
Notably, Salah surpassed Sergio Aguero’s 184 goals to become the highest-scoring overseas player in Premier League history. He also ranks fourth in all-time combined goals and assists, underscoring his dual threat as both scorer and creator.
