Messi's reunion on hold as Barcelona officially announce Camp Nou return delayed
The Spanish champions were looking to return to Camp Nou sooner than expected after leaving the stadium for renovation.
They also planned to open the stadium by inviting club legend Lionel Messi, but all plans have been delayed.
Barcelona delay Camp Nou return
On June 25th, Barcelona announced that their return to the Camp Nou stadium would be on August 10th for the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy match, as reported by Sportal.
The required municipal and construction procedures for public access to the stadium won't be completed in time.
Barcelona clarified they are working closely with local authorities and the Barcelona City Council to expedite the process and will keep fans updated on developments.
The club explicitly stated that the delay won't affect debt repayments related to the project. For now, the Joan Gamper Trophy match will be held at the main pitch of their training ground, the Johan Cruyff Stadium.
