Didier Deschamps's side took dominance to another level in their Euro 2024 qualifier clash against Los Llanis, with ten different scorers producing a 14-0 mauling.

How it happened

Gibraltar’s road to a 14-0 defeat started with an own-goal in as early as the third minute of the game. Marcus Thuram made it two almost immediately, and before the 20th-minute mark, PSG youngster Warren Zaire-Emery made it three.

Gibraltar made it easier for France when Ethan James Santos was shown red in the 18th minute. They continued to self-sabotage, as on the half-hour mark, France were awarded a penalty for a handball.

Kylian Mbappe stepped up and converted the penalty to make it four, and before half-time, Jonathan Clauss, Kingsley Coman and Youssouf Fofana took the tally to seven.

France matched their incredible number from the first-half in the second, as they scored seven. Mbappe completed a hattrick, Coman scored a second for his brace, Giroud scored a late brace, and then Rabiot and Dembele both got on the scoresheet.

France sets record

The 14-0 scoreline meant Les Blues set both a national team record and a UEFA Euro qualifying championship record.

The biggest score margin in the European Championship qualifier was previously held by Germany, who beat San Marino 13-0 on their way to the tournament in Austria and Switzerland. Germany did manage to reach the final of the said tournament but were beaten by Spain.

The 14-0 win was also the biggest in French senior team history, as it was four goals more than the previous record, a 10-0 drubbing of Azerbaijan in another Euro qualifying game in 1995.
