Hope your mascot is okay? Lobi Stars mock Kwara United after win in Ilorin

Cruel taunt or fair game? Lobi Stars troll Kwara United after victory in a cheeky jibe at their tired mascot.

 Lobi Stars are now the second team to win two matches away this season in the NPFL after an impressive victory against Kwara United in Ilorin. 

The Pride of Benue defeated the Afonja Warriors 2-0 in their first game in 2024 on Sunday before mocking their host’s mascot after the game.

The Yes Father boys went, saw and conquered in Ilorin in what was the only away win in week 17 in the NPFL. 

An own goal from Godwin Oshagbemi in the 21st minute set up Lobi Stars on their way to an impressive victory.

Three minutes before the break, Stanley Oganbor added the second goal to give the visitors from Lafia a comfortable lead on the road at halftime.

In the second half, neither side was able to add to the scoreline in a rather cautious performance, though the Afonja Warriors also known as Harmony Boys had a chance from 12 yards but missed the penalty. 

The victory was Lobi’s second of the season away from home, the second team to win two matches on the road after Remo Stars.

After the match, the visitors took to their social media account to react to the impressive victory.

To rub insult on the wounds of their hosts, Lobi posted a picture of a tired Kwara United fan and mascot, Arabambi, who sat frustrated and sober during the match.

“Dear @KwaraUnitedFC, a nice game we had today,” Lobi posted. “Hope your mascot, #Arabambi is okay now? Our regards to #Arabambi.”

“Football is about entertainment. The fee-paying fans got a nice #matchdayexperience on the first #MatchDay of #2024,” Yes Father added.

Lobi Stars are now joint leaders with Remo Stars, who needed a late drama to overcome a spirited Sunshine Stars in Ikenne.

Remo and Lobi have 32 points, with Doma United and Enyimba making up the decisive top four in the NPFL standings.
