Enugu Rangers failed on their road trip to Benin to battle Bendel Insurance while Doma United continued to fly in the NPFL.

Bendel Insurance and Doma United are off the mark in 2024 after impressive victories against Enugu Rangers and Katsina United in the NPFL on Saturday.

Insurance defeated Rangers 2-0 in Benin while United registered the same score line against Katsina United in Gombe.

The Flying Antelopes got the new year off to the worst possible start following a first defeat in three matches.

However, the 2016 NPFL endured a poor market day following a routine win for their hosts, the Benin Arsenal.

Junior Osaghae and Ismail Sarki were the heroes of their day after netting both goals in either half to give Bendel all three points.

Bendel Insurance have now moved up to fourth on the table after the win on 27 points, five more than Rangers, who sit ninth.

Doma United go top

Meanwhile, in Gombe, it was another win for Doma at the Pantami Stadium. Against neighbours Katsina United.

Bidemi Owuko and Samuel Enefiok netted two first half goals to give fans of the Savannah Tigers the perfect New Year present against the Changi Boys.

Doma United have now won eight of nine matches at home this season, with just one draw.

The latest win sees them bounce back to winning ways, sitting pretty at the top of the table while Katsina are 11th with 20 points.
