Doma United are the latest leaders in the NPFL following Yes Father's (Lobi Stars) inability to find its right footing against Enyimba in Aba.

The Savannah Tigers of Gombe have taken to their social media account to celebrate being top of the table in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.

Savannah Tigers, Doma United, replaced Lobi Stars at the top of the NPFL standings after a narrow win while Lobi dropped points in Aba on Sunday.

Doma United Take Over

United got the week nine round of matches off to a start when they hosted former champions Plateau United on Saturday.

As reported by Pulse Sports Nigeria, the Tigers made it back-to-back wins against NPFL giants after a narrow 1-0 win against the Peace Boys from Jos.

Andrew Majalisa and goalkeeper, Kingdom Osayi, were the heroes of the day for the Savannah Tigers against a spirited Plateau side at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

While Majalisa netted the decisive and stunning winner, Osayi proved again why he is being mooted for a potential Super Eagles call-up with an excellent late save to ensure all three points stayed in Gombe.

The club has now taken to social media to celebrate top of the league with their fans.

“Feeling on it,” Doma posted on Monday morning. “League leaders after week nine.”

One of the club’s fans added; “Lonely at the top, Doma United, come on you Tigers.” a reference to a hit single by Nigeria’s Afrobeat star, Asake.

Yes Father stumbles in Aba

Doma’s rise to the top came after Lobi Stars, who went into matchday nine as the leaders, failed to get the result in Aba.

Lobi Stars, who are also known as Yes Father, were visitors to Nigerian champions, Enyimba FC, in Aba on Sunday.

Lobi Stars have looked renewed under new management but failed in Aba.

However, despite a gallant fight, it took a beautiful late strike from Alaibo Somiari to down the club from Benue in Aba, Abia State.

Somiari’s well-taken goal was, however, enough to not only hand Enyimba the win and three points but also end a run of two successive defeats to lift the People’s Elephant out of the danger zone.
