‘Look at this man’ - Ex-South African player hail Osimhen’s selflessness against Algeria
The Super Eagles booked a place in the semi-final of the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Algeria.
Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead entering into the second half of the game before Akor Adams clinched the win.
The Galatasaray star was created the assist for Adams' goal despite having the opportunity to bury the chance himself.
Modise heaps praise on Osimhen
Speaking after the game, Modise noted the Galatasaray forward's awareness despite his own ambitions to be the tournament's top scorer.
"Look at this man [Osimhen], he is unselfish," Modise explained. "As much as he is a striker that wants to be the top scorer of the tournament, he realised the ball is on his left foot, let me turn around and look for the most open man.
“But also the pass as well again from Iwobi, getting Osimhen in that right direction. But yet again this goal is a great goal and it will take the mic off his back because of all the opportunities that he has missed," he concluded.
Modise has also advised Adams, who also got his name on the score sheet to improve on his finishing after squandering some chances against Algeria.
Nigeria are now preparing for their battle against the host nation Morocco on Wednesday as they look to make it to the final.
