Liverpool have reached an agreement with Feyenoord, and have now confirmed Arne Slot as their new manager following the exit of Jurgen Klopp.

Premier League giants Liverpool have officially announced that Arne Slot will take over from Jurgen Klopp as the new head coach.

Arne Slot's appointment has been an open secret for the past few weeks, but Liverpool needed to resolve negotiations with Feyenoord as he was still under contract with the Dutch side. They have now reached an agreement and subsequently announced his appointment.

Liverpool announced via their official channels that they have reached an agreement for Arne Slot to become their new coach, subject to the issuance of a UK work permit, and will begin his tenure on June 1st.

The Reds immediately went scouring the market when their manager for the past nine years, Jurgen Klopp, announced he would be stepping down from the role at the end of the just-concluded campaign.

Liverpool were actively linked with names like Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim; however, they quickly settled on Slot and zeroed in on him.

Slot had a contract with last season's Eredivisie champions, Feyenoord, until 2026, and Liverpool had to pay compensation to the Dutch side.

According to the BBC, the Reds reached an agreement on a compensation deal worth a substantial £9.4 million to take Slot away from The Pride of Rotterdam.

Arne was a midfielder in his playing days and retired in 2013 while under the employ of Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle.

He began his coaching career at the same club, where he was given responsibility for the PEC Zwolle youth team before he joined Cambuur as an assistant manager.

His first role as a senior coach came in 2019 at AZ Alkmaar, after which he was promoted from assistant. He was sacked by Alkmaar in the last month of 2020 after he was caught negotiating with Feyenoord, months after he led Alkmaar to level on points with Erik ten Hag’s Ajax before the league was scrapped due to COVID-19.

He spent three successful seasons with Feyenoord before the Liverpool move, winning the Eredivisie (2022/23), KNVB Cup (2023/24) and finishing runners up in the maiden UEFA Europa Conference League
