The 37-year-old striker scored the opener in a dominant 4-0 win over Athletic Club, becoming the first player to net a goal at the newly reopened Camp Nou.

He said, “It’s a special day. We’re very happy to be playing at the Camp Nou again. We played very well from the start. More important than the points is simply being back; playing here is a different experience.”

Saturday’s victory marked Barcelona’s return to their spiritual home after months playing away during stadium renovations. Despite missing several first-team players, Hansi Flick’s side delivered a commanding performance, scoring twice in each half.

Lewandowski said the team came out with an aggressive mindset, determined to make a statement upon returning to the iconic venue.

He added, “From the beginning, our focus was to attack and get that first goal. It was special for me and I’m proud, but the team’s performance is what matters most.”

The Polish striker also emphasised how returning to Camp Nou boosts the squad psychologically and tactically.

“When we play at the Camp Nou, we are stronger. I had a good feeling from the start. It was a special day for me as well,” he concluded

The emphatic win lifts Barcelona level on points with rivals Real Madrid.
