LALIGA president fires at Florentino Perez after recent comments about Barcelona
LALIGA president Javier Tebas has fired back at Florentino Perez, accusing the Real Madrid top boss of hypocrisy after Los Blancos’ president’s recent comments.
Perez addressed a number of budding issues during Real Madrid's latest general assembly, including their dispute with UEFA and the Barcelona Negreira case.
He also accused Tebas of lining his own pockets by making more money in salary than the Premier League president, despite LALIGA generating less than the English top flight.
What Tebas said
The LALIGA president is not one to leave an accusation unaddressed. He responded to Perez's statement, mentioning instances in which Real Madrid have been complicit in conflicts of interest.
“If we’re talking about “conflicts of interest”, Florentino Perez is the last person who should be giving lessons,” Tebas said. “Real Madrid, under Perez, was part of the RFEF board during the entire Rubiales era.
“So if, according to Florentino, the RFEF is “the house that appoints and controls Spanish refereeing”, then that is a real conflict of interest.
“And let’s not forget—it was Real Madrid itself that privately negotiated, together with Rubiales, the huge amounts of money they would earn from the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, like they were arranging a summer friendly.
“I can tell you very clearly that the clubs involved were NOT happy with that revenue split. That is a textbook conflict of interest.”
