Just two of them — Brazil legend Rivaldo picks 2 candidates for 2025 Ballon d’Or

Barcelona have started 2025 on a high note, with a stunning triumph over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, and a fine win over Real Betis to advance to the Copa De Rey quarter-finals.

There have been several standout players for the Blaugrana and club legend Rivaldo believes they will produce the next Ballon d’Or.

In a recent interview, the former Golden Ball winner said;

"Right now, I don't see anyone ahead of Lamine and Raphinha in the race to win the Ballon d'Or.

"Maybe if we look outside of Spain, Salah is a strong candidate for his season and Vinicius will always be there.

“But all this will depend a lot on Barcelona and the conquest of collective titles, but both are having a great season."

Rivaldo praised Yamal's maturity and confidence on the pitch.

"Yamal is showing great confidence in Barcelona and plays with a maturity much greater than his age."

He also had high praise for Raphinha, his compatriot.

"Raphinha is also a strong candidate for the Ballon d'Or. Especially for how he has been playing lately, scoring goals, giving assists and showing great confidence in the field.”

Hansi Flick’s men are still in the hunt for the title although the task has become harder with 6 points separating them from leaders Atletico Madrid.
