Leicester City found themselves at a crossroads following consecutive Championship defeats, leaving fans and players alike disheartened.

But just when the clouds seemed to gather, Jamie Vardy emerged as the guiding light, orchestrating an intervention that revitalized the squad and propelled them back on the path to glory.

The Foxes claimed the Championship trophy and got promoted to the Premier League despite struggling towards the end of the season.

Vardy’s team meeting

Marc Albrighton in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT, revealed, "It was Vards who called the meeting. A lot more players spoke up than I thought would have. There was a lot of honesty."

The players-only meeting convened by Vardy was pivotal in addressing the team's concerns and reigniting their passion for the game.

Albrighton shed light on the discussions, emphasizing the importance of taking calculated risks and expressing freedom on the field.

“We felt sometimes over the course of, especially the second half of the season, the lads seemed to not want to take certain risks [in possession]," Albrighton explained. "So we told them to go and do that. Don't turn out, make sure you express that freedom."

The impact of this advice was palpable, particularly evident in the performance of young talent Abdul Fatawu, whose hat-trick against Southampton sealed Leicester's promotion to the Premier League in style.

“He’s been a revelation for us,” Albrighton exclaimed. “He’s only 20 years old as well." Albrighton praised Fatawu's defensive contributions as well, highlighting his ability to track back and disrupt the opposition's attacks.

“I just told him to keep doing what you're doing, both offensively and defensively," Albrighton recalled advising Fatawu during halftime. "That's a credit to him."
