Isak to Liverpool: Newcastle stand firm, keen to add 19-goal Premier League forward
Newcastle United reportedly have no interest in selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, multiple reports have suggested.
The Merseyside club are interested in a £120million deal for the 25-year-old striker, showing long-standing admiration.
Alongside Isak, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike is also on Liverpool’s radar, but no official contact has been made.
After Diogo Jota’s tragic passing, Liverpool aim to strengthen their squad this summer, especially in finding a top No. 9.
Arne Slot’s men have already broken their transfer record by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for an initial £100m.
However, they are also keen to add Isak, who has scored 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle since 2022, including 23 in 34 last season, his best league tally.
Newcastle to keep Isak, bid for prolific Premier League forward
According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle, who are also interested in signing Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, have found a Premier League alternative in case they miss out on the Bundesliga forward, who is also a Liverpool target.
The report states that the Magpies have identified Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as a second option, with the intention of playing alongside Isak and not replacing the forward.
Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals for Brentford in 2024-25, the 28-year-old's most productive season in English football.
The Congo DR forward has scored 45 times in 137 Premier League appearances for the Bees since signing from Lorient
How have Newcastle fared in pre-season?
Newcastle are back in pre-season, securing a 4-0 triumph over Carlisle on July 12.
The Magpies face Celtic, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid in high-profile friendly matches before starting their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on August 16.
