Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni talks about stopping Haaland, and sees Rudiger as a reference.

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that he has reviewed footage of how Rudiger handled Haaland and plans to employ a similar method.

The former Chelsea defender received plaudits for limiting the Norwegian's threat in the Manchester City semi-final clash against Real Madrid, and the 21-year-old international reveals he had been taking notes.

What Bastoni said

The defender was speaking in a pre-match press conference when he spoke about how he planned to deal with the City dangerman.

Inter Milan play Pep Guardiola's side on Saturday, and Haaland, who has scored over 50 goals this season, has been unavoidably brought up.

Bastoni acknowledged the danger the striker poses; however, he relishes the challenge and claims he has been preparing for it.

Part of it, as he explained, is watching videos of the first-leg of the Real Madrid and Manchester City semi-final clash, which ended 1-1, a match in which Haaland was limited to few chances, thanks in part to the effort of Rudiger.

“I have seen a video of Rudiger in the semi-final. He managed to contain Haaland very well so maybe that’s an example we can use. We will try to copy what he did,” he said, per the Daily Mail.

“Are we afraid? We should be afraid of assassins or other bad people, not footballers. Saying you’re afraid is a mistake. You have to be as brave as you can.”

Meanwhile, Manchester City's Pep Guardiola talks about the Champions League final defeat to Chelsea, and how the sensations are different ahead of Saturday's clash against Inter.
