The move reunites Aremu with Aberdeen's sporting director, Lutz Pfannenstiel, who previously worked with the player during his time at St. Pauli.

Aremu, a standout at the 2019 U20 Africa Cup of Nations, found his playing time limited at Kaiserslautern this season, featuring for just 157 minutes in the league and 64 minutes in the DFB-Pokal.

Aremu ready for the challenge

Speaking for the first time as an Aberdeen player, the 26-year-old expressed his enthusiasm for the new chapter in his career.

"I’m excited to be here. I’ve been made to feel really welcome, and I can’t wait to get started," Aremu stated.

"I like new challenges and I think Aberdeen offers that. For me, I am growing and taking the next step in my career, so it’s a huge move."

Describing his style of play, he added, "I’m an aggressive player, but I have other attributes to my game. There is a lot to play for this season. There is a chance to move forward, and I want to strengthen the team to help them achieve good things."

Aremu also made a promise to the supporters, saying, "I’m ready to give everything every time I put the shirt on and look forward to playing in front of the fans."

He becomes the second Nigerian player to sign for Aberdeen during the January transfer window, following the arrival of forward Toyosi Olusanya.
