Speaking to Now Spor in the wake of Wednesday’s 2–0 defeat at the Etihad, Osimhen was asked about the persistent rumors linking his Super Eagles teammate, Ademola Lookman, and Villarreal’s Pape Gueye to a move to Istanbul.

While Galatasaray has already been active, securing the high-profile loan signings of Noa Lang and Yaser Asprilla, the search for further reinforcement continues.

"Lookman and Pape Gueye are very good players," Osimhen noted.

"But I don't know what the club is doing in the transfer market right now. We have signed two very good players who will contribute, and whoever we face next, we will do our best."

The pursuit of Lookman has evolved into a fierce battle, as Galatasaray must now battle arch-rivals Fenerbahce, who have reportedly leapfrogged the competition by entering direct talks with Atalanta.

Fenerbahçe’s sporting director, Devin Özek, is currently in Italy attempting to finalize a deal rumored to be worth €40 million, including a staggering €9 million annual salary for the winger.

While Osimhen has previously admitted to recruiting Lookman, Fenerbahce are now primed to snatch the 28-year-old ahead of their rivals.
