The 33-year-old Italy international, who joined Arsenal in January 2023, leaves the Premier League with contrasting memories. While his time with the Gunners yielded no silverware, his five-year tenure at Chelsea was a period of immense success.

Jorginho won Champions League at Chelsea

Jorginho’s stint at Chelsea saw him lift the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup, playing a central role in Thomas Tuchel's midfield during their Champions League-winning campaign in 2021.

In contrast, his time at Arsenal was more subdued. Despite flashes of his trademark composure and experience, he struggled to establish a consistent role in Mikel Arteta’s squad, leaving the North London club without adding to his trophy cabinet.

What Jorginho said

Jorginho reflected warmly on his Chelsea years saying it was very beautiful for him to win a lot at Stamford Bridge.

“A beautiful experience, which made me grow a lot as a player and as a person. I learned about English culture. The country, the people. I won a lot. It was all very beautiful," he told Tutto Mercato Web.

Now returning to South America, the Brazilian-born midfielder is set to begin a new chapter with Flamengo. With his vast experience and winning pedigree, expectations are high that he can help the Rio de Janeiro club compete for domestic and continental honours.
