Beyond a simple snapshot, it symbolises Ighalo’s role as a trailblazer who paved the way for younger Nigerian talents like Osimhen.

Ighalo, known for his diverse career across Europe, China, and the Middle East, made history as the first Nigerian to score for Manchester United during his 2020 loan spell.

Ighalo, now 36 and playing in the Saudi Pro League, was a key figure during Nigeria’s 2019 AFCON campaign, winning the Golden Boot.

This mentorship has influenced Osimhen’s approach, combining raw talent with relentless determination, a trait evident in his recent record-breaking performances at Galatasaray.

Victor Osimhen ended the season with 37 goals in 41 matches.

By publicly honouring Ighalo, Osimhen may have acknowledged the sacrifices and achievements of those who opened doors for players like him to succeed in Europe’s top leagues.
