Zinedine Zidane has revealed he is desperate to return to the dugout and become a head coach again.

The former Ballon d'Or winner has confirmed that he is targeting the prestigious France national team job as his ultimate goal.

Zidane, who has not taken charge of any team since he stepped away from the LaLiga giants in 2021, has turned down multiple club offers during his extended break, including the Manchester United job, preferring to wait for the right opportunity.

Speaking at the Festival Dello Sport, via GFFN, Zidane openly discussed his future ambitions.

“For sure I’m returning to work as head coach, it’s my plan.”

He then clarified his specific focus, confirming the long-standing speculation linking him with the national role currently held by Didier Deschamps.

“My desire is to become France head coach one day… let’s see.”

The timing aligns with widespread speculation that Deschamps could step down from his post with Les Bleus following the 2026 World Cup.

Given Zidane's immense success at Real Madrid, including three consecutive Champions League titles, he is widely considered the natural and ideal successor to lead his country, and will be welcomed by the likes of Kylian Mbappe, who has spoken highly of the former captain.
