Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has revealed how emotionally draining defeats are for him, admitting he often struggles to sleep whenever his team loses a match.

The Nigerian international, who has been in remarkable form since arriving in Istanbul, scored a vital brace in Galatasaray’s tense 3-2 victory over Samsunspor on Friday in the Turkish Super Lig.

What Osimhen said

In an interview with the Smallie YouTube channel, Osimhen opened up about his mentality, competitiveness and personal struggles with losing.

The 25-year-old striker described himself as someone who has hated losing since childhood, regardless of the stakes involved.

He said, “Losing, to be honest, is very cruel. It doesn’t matter if it’s street football, a real match, the World Cup, or the Africa Cup of Nations. Even in life.”

He added that even though defeats are part of football, accepting them emotionally remains difficult.

“Of course, it’s normal, it’s part of the game, and I have to accept it. But if I could, I would want to win every single match," he added.

Osimhen back among the goals.

Osimhen did not hold back when describing how deeply losses affect him physically and mentally.

He said, “People who live with me know that if I lose a match, it’s very hard for me to sleep.”

He further explained that whenever he steps onto the pitch, his mindset switches completely, fueled by passion and hunger.

“When I’m on the pitch, I become a completely different beast.”

Since joining the Turkish giants, Osimhen has quickly become one of the club’s most influential figures, delivering decisive performances in key fixtures and earning admiration from supporters.
