‘I have to see more’ - Fulham manager urges Chukwueze to show him consistency
Chukwueze, who arrived at Craven Cottage on a season-long loan from AC Milan on transfer deadline day.
Following his arrival, the forward has had a gradual introduction to life in West London, culminating in a game-changing performance in his last outing.
All six of his appearances for the club have been as a substitute. However, his most recent appearance showcased his true potential.
Silva speaks on Chukwueze
While many fans might expect that performance to earn Chukwueze a more prominent role, Silva remains cautious.
The manager acknowledged the player's talent but stressed the need for greater consistency and adaptation.
"I have the privilege to see him in the sessions, doing the type of things that he adds differently for us – creativity, last pass, last definition," Silva stated. "I’m pleased with him, but I have to see more."
Silva pointed out that Chukwueze's integration has been hampered by circumstances beyond his control, including multiple international breaks that have limited his time with the squad.
"If you look in 3 months, how many times he was out of this club was too long for a new player," Silva explained.
"I need to see more in session and more time in games to see the adaptation for the intensity, for the aggressiveness in the right way that the Premier League demands from players. He is a very good player I knew before. That he has the talent I knew before."
As Fulham prepares to face Tottenham in a highly anticipated London derby this weekend, it appears unlikely that the Super Eagles winger will be handed his first start.
