His time will start next season: Wayne Rooney hints Man Utd fans when to expect 'wonders' from Ruben Amorim
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has come to the defence of Ruben Amorim, as he believes a major overhaul is needed for the club to show improvement.
Rooney, who has himself seen the difficulties managers face in the dugout with unsuccessful stints at four different clubs since 2020, believes the Portuguese needs time and a refreshed squad to turn things around at Old Trafford.

Amorim's struggles
The former Sporting boss was brought in mid-season after Erik ten Hag was sacked. The objective was simple: improve the team.
The Red Devils have not shown any improvements under Amorim, managing five wins in 16 league matches and currently 14th on the table.
Amorim is on course to lead Manchester United to their worst season in the Premier League, even worse than Ten Hag's eighth-place finish last season, but Rooney calls for patience, as he believes the former Casa Pia boss can turn things around.
What Rooney said
“Listen, I think it's been a difficult start, of course, with results and I think what he's trying to do is,” Rooney said on BBC’s MOTD. “We've seen players going out on loan and I think there's a lot of players who need to leave the football club and I think he's slowly trying to do that.
"Really, his time will start next season. I think you have to find a way to get through this season. The FA Cup is still a chance to win a trophy. I think big changes on and off the pitch at Man Utd and from next season we'll start to see real changes.”
Rooney's statement came before Manchester United’s FA Cup exit to Fulham. The Red Devils now have the Europa League as their only probable source of silverware this season.
