A Barcelona presidential signalled interest in an England international star.
Barcelona presidential candidate Xavi Vilajoana has admitted that he will make an effort to sign Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane if he is elected.
The club’s presidential elections are scheduled for March 15, with incumbent Joan Laporta seeking re-election and a competitive field of challengers emerging, including former candidate Victor Font, Marc Ciria and Vilajoana.
What he said
As part of the electoral process, each candidate has begun consulting socios to get the required 2337 signatures to qualify for the election. They have also begun communicating their manifesto via various media outlets.
Florentino Perez with Luis Figo, Laporta with Beckham and the promise to renew Lionel Messi – these presidential elections tend to include promises of specific superstar signings, and Vilajoana is pitching his tent with Harry Kane.
In an interview with Football Espana, he explained why he wants Kane for Barcelona. “Kane is one of the options (smiles),” he admitted. “I put Harry Kane as an example because his profile is not an easy one to produce at La Masia.
“He’s a very good goalscorer, he has a lot of talent, he can link play very well, drop deeper, and is one of the players that can play in tight spaces. He has a lot of skills that complement the Barcelona style of play. He’s an example of a player that could fit.”
