Manchester City's Pep Guardiola talks about winning the Premier League early and what it means for their treble ambitions.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his team against complacency and over-partying, as they still have big games ahead against Manchester United and Inter.

The Cityzens lifted the Premier League title after their 1-0 victory against Chelsea last weekend, and the squad has been in a celebratory mood. Pep, however, wants them to keep their eye on the ball as they aim for a historic treble.

What Guardiola said

The former Barcelona boss was speaking today ahead of their clash against Brighton on Thursday. He was glad to have the league title wrapped up but worried that the levels might drop.

He admitted the inevitability of a reduced intensity from his players in their last two league games against the Seagulls and Brentford, with both games a mere formality for his team.

But warns that they cannot let their level drop too much, as they have to carry momentum into their FA Cup final against Manchester United on June 3rd and the Champions League final against Inter a week after.

"I prefer to be already champion, but maybe to be really committed against United and Inter, be in contention to win the PL."

“They have the party after the game. I don't know how they feel. They have to be ready to run a lot.

"The best way to prepare for the final is be ready. The players set the standards, they have to maintain it. It's normal the energy would drop. Arsenal play for just the PL, we have FA Cup, Champions League, the energy we spend is massive.

“It's normal you drop, have to avoid it or don't drop much. Otherwise the two teams can hurt us. Play our game, adapt the way we play, arrive to United and Inter in the best condition possible."

Meanwhile, Arsenal have tied Bukayo Saka down to a new deal, lasting until 2027 worth a staggering ₦8.5B a year.
