Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner reacted to his team's historic FA Cup triumph over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

An elated Oliver Glasner detailed some of his team’s process in achieving a historic FA Cup triumph over Manchester City, the first in their 164-year history.

Eberechi Eze scored the solitary goal in the 1-0 victory, a sweet revenge after the Cityzens beat them 5-2 last month. After the thrashing at the Etihad last month, Oliver Glasner came out to say he warned Guardiola that they would not have it all their way in their next meeting. He has been proven correct.

The match in brief

Manchester City dominated the early stages, with Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland combining in a promising move. However, Crystal Palace seized the initiative with a swift counterattack, as Daniel Muñoz delivered a precise cross for Eberechi Eze to volley home.

Despite City's relentless pressure, Palace's defence held firm, thanks to goalkeeper Dean Henderson's crucial saves. Henderson's athleticism was on full display as he denied Omar Marmoush from the penalty spot and made another key save to beat away a curling effort. Palace held on for a historic win, despite 10 minutes of added time, securing a UEFA Europa League spot and bringing silverware to Selhurst Park.

What Glasner said

Speaking after the match, Glasner explained how well they prepared for the game. He emphasised their need to be patient, bide their time, and hit their would-be victims on the transition.

"I can't believe it; we had to defend so much. The spirit and togetherness on the pitch was amazing. It was all about being patient; we analysed that if you give them the pocket, then they are so good.

"We had to be patient, let them cross, defend and wait for the moment to attack. They are so good in their movements. From the 5-2 defeat, we learned that if you give them the pocket, we will lose. We usually attack more but we had to be patient and wait for the right moment.

"When they play with four attacking players, it's difficult to defend, but in transition, we knew we could create overloads. No winger likes to defend. It was a great goal. Tomorrow's training is already cancelled. The players want to cancel Monday too. Special credit to the players; they've never lost belief in me and the coaching staff."
