Former Cherangany MP has shared a glimpse of his family's private life as his son takes his first steps into the world of football.

2012 Boston Marathon champion Wesley Korir has shared a heartwarming photo of his son who has taken a significant step into the world of football.

The young talent has joined the renowned Borussia Dortmund International Academy Waterloo, showcasing an exciting shift in his interests and aspirations.

Korir, known for his athletic prowess and his role in Kenyan politics, has always maintained a low profile when it comes to his family matters.

However, he dropped a hint about his son's budding love for football in a tweet that emphasized parental guidance and support.

Quoting Proverbs 22:6, he revealed that his son expressed a desire to become a soccer player when he grows up.

“So I asked my son what he wants to be when he grows up and he says he wants to play soccer and I build a soccer field at home for him to train in. Impressed with his goalkeeping,” he tweeted.

Korir has embraced a diverse career journey, transitioning from an elite runner to a prominent figure in the Kenyan government.

Appointed as the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, The Arts, and Youth Affairs, Korir has been instrumental in promoting sports and youth development in Kenya.

Despite an unsuccessful bid to reclaim his parliamentary seat during the 2022 General Election, Korir has remained dedicated to his community.

He has been working closely with dairy farmers in Cherangany, striving to enhance their yield and livelihoods.

Korir's inspiring trajectory has not gone unnoticed, even becoming the subject of a documentary in 2014.

The Borussia Dortmund Evonik Football Academy has now become a part of this remarkable story.

Known for providing an exceptional platform for young football enthusiasts, the academy offers an immersive experience in the world of football.

Children and teenagers are given the chance to learn from BVB coaches, imbibing the techniques and skills that have propelled stars like Marco Reus and Youssoufa Moukoko to success.

With a focus on the holistic development of participants, the academy aligns its training approach with the sporting philosophy of the BVB Youth Department.

Beyond honing football-specific skills such as dribbling, tricks, and shooting, the coaches emphasize the joyous aspects of the sport.

Wesley Korir's son now stands at the threshold of an exciting journey, donning the Borussia Dortmund colors and embarking on a path that could lead to Kenya's national team, the Harambee Stars.
