Former Barcelona boss appointed Inter Miami head coach, set for Messi reunion

Tata Martino, former Argentina and Barcelona manager has been appointed head coach of MLS side Inter Miami.

Tata Martino, 60, will replace Phil Neville who was sacked at the beginning of June after a dismal run of results.

Martino will reunite with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami after previously working together, first with Barcelona and then the Argentina national team.

"Tata is a highly respected figure in our sport whose track record speaks for itself," said co-owner David Beckham. 

"We are confident that his achievements in the game and experience as a head coach will inspire our team and excite our fans and look forward to seeing the impact he will have on and off the field."

 The club said Martino "will assume coaching responsibilities upon the receipt of his work documentation".

Martino has experience coaching in MLS, having coached Atlanta United for two years following his departure from the Argentina national team.
