FIFPRO World XI
FIFPRO have released their famous Men’s World XI. Paris Saint-Germain had the most representatives with four players. Barcelona and Real Madrid had two players each, while the Premier League had three representatives.
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donarumma (Italy, Manchester City)
Defender: Achraf Hakimi (Morocco, PSG)
Defender: Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands, Liverpool)
Defender: Nuno Mendes (Portugal, PSG)
Midfielder: Cole Palmer (England, Chelsea)
Midfielder: Vitinha (Portugal, PSG)
Midfielder: Pedri (Spain, Barcelona)
Midfielder: Jude Bellingham (England, Real Madrid)
Forward: Lamine Yamal (Spain, Barcelona)
Forward: Kylian Mbappe (France, PSG)
Forward: Ousmane Dembele (France, PSG)
Yamal reigns supreme
Yamal became the youngest player to have a place in the FIFPRO World XI. Astonishingly, he also had the most votes. According to FIFPRO's social media handle, Yamal received 10,167 votes, the most for any outfield player.
Yamal came second in the Ballon d'Or, an award voted by journalists, losing to Ousmane Dembele. Collecting the most votes in an award voted by the players, like FIFPRO, raises his prospects for the FIFA The Best award.
FIFA’s award is voted for by the players, journalists, coaches and fans. With Barcelona's vast fanbase, coaches like Simone Inzaghi regarding Yamal as one of the best players in the world, and his second-place finish in the Ballon d'Or (which shows he is fancied by journalists), the Barcelona star might just pip Ousmane Dembele to the Men's Best Player award.
