Empoli handed Juventus a fresh source of disappointment as they ripped the Old Lady apart in a 4-1 victory.

Max Allegri's men missed the chance to bounce back from the recently announced 10-point deduction and have their Champions League qualification in their hands when they suffered a big defeat at the Carlo Castellani.

How it happened

Despite a fall from grace—a 10-point deduction that saw them fall out of the Champions League—Juventus still had the qualification for Europe's elite competition in their hands if they managed to beat Gli Azzurri today and in the two other games left in the season.

The game started slowly, but the visitors soon assumed a position of dominance. They failed to get the lead and suffered for their profligacy when Empoli were awarded a penalty. Francesco Caputo made no mistake in beating Wojciech Szczesny to give the hosts the lead.

Buoyed by the opener, the hosts' pressure was rewarded by a second in the 21st minute thanks to a Sebastiano Luperto strike.

Francesco Caputo made it three minutes after returning from the break. Chiesa pulled one back from Juve in the 85th minute, before Roberto Picolli restored Empoli's three-goal advantage in the 93rd minute.

The victory places the hosts 14th on the log, while Juve suffer a blow in their Champions League race.
