Doma United defeated visiting Dakkada FC 1-0 at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe, on Sunday.

Akinade Onigbinde, the head coach of Doma United, has made a demand that the use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) be implemented in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

A 59th-minute goal from Emmanuel Ogwuche was all the Gombe club needed on Sunday as they defeated Dakkada 1-0 at the Pantami Stadium. The win was the newcomers' first victory of the season, having drawn and lost their opening fixtures of the season.

The win meant that the Savannah Tigers climbed to sixth in Group, just a place behind Dakkada who also had four points.

Onigbinde lament lack of VAR in NPFL

Despite the win, Doma United's boss Onigbinde showed his displeasure at his team being denied a possible goal in the first half after Haruna Aliyu headed in one of Hillary Ekwawu’s long throws.

The headed goal by Aliyu was disallowed after match officials adjudged that a foul had been committed in the buildup to the goal, something according to Onigbinde, VAR would have made the difference.

“That was a goal, it’s time to call for VAR into our football," the Doma United boss said after the game, "We were supposed to make use of the advantage because the ball passed through the line; I saw the ball, it was a goal.”

Onigbinde calls Doma United win 'moral booster'

Commenting on the win Onigbinde added, “This is waking up to prepare against our next match away against Wikki Tourists. It’s a morale booster; we have three points at home, four in total so we move up. Our aim is to finish second or third on the table.”

“On the issue of supporters club, we are going to talk to the management to talk to them and lecture them ahead of the next match,” he added.

Doma United will travel to Wikki Tourists and Bayelsa United in their fourth and fifth matches of the season on January 29, and February 1, before returning to their home ground four days later to welcome defending champions Rivers United.
