Cristiano Ronaldo receives Guinness World Records certificate for most caps ever
Al-Nassr and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo received a Guinness World Records certificate for having the most international caps for a male player.

Ronaldo was rewarded for his excellence and Longevity with the Guinness World Records certificate for reaching 200 international games, the most for a male player and four caps ahead of the closest, Bader Al-Mutawa, who was capped by Kuwait on 196 occasions.

Ronaldo's historic night

Ronaldo did what he does best, as he marked the occasion with a winning goal to secure a crucial victory for Portugal.

The 38-year-old delivered the victory against an Iceland side that had been reduced to ten men when he turned home Goncalo Inacio's header with a poacher's finish and was ecstatic. 

Ronaldo leads Portugal in almost every statistical category after making his senior debut for the Selecao against Kazakhstan in August 2003.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid man won the European Championship with Portugal in 2016 and also experienced success in the Nations League in 2019.

Ronaldo on making history

Ahead of the game against Iceland, Ronaldo, as reported by ESPN, said: 

"Two hundred games played proves the love I have for my country. For me, it is an extremely important milestone. It means a lot. [Two hundred] is a beautiful number that [no men's player] has.

"I'm very proud because this is something I never thought I could reach. And I'm continuing to set records."

Ronaldo is also Portugal's all-time record scorer with 123 goals.
