Ivan Leko, Club Brugge's coach, addressed rumours linking Raphael Onyedika to a move away from the club.
Club Brugge’s head coach Ivan Leko played down Galatasaray’s interest in Raphael Onyedika after Victor Osimhen openly revealed that he was working to convince his Super Eagles teammate to join him in Istanbul.
What Leko said
Speaking ahead of the Belgian Pro League clash against Zulte Waregem, Leko said Onyedika was fit to participate in their game this weekend, before addressing the rumours linking the Nigerian star to Turkey.
“Nobody told me he's leaving,” Leko said, per Voetbalnieuws. “What I've seen? He's training with us again, he's in good spirits, and he's behaving normally. I see no reason why Rapha can't play. He'll be in the squad.
“People are chattering and speculating about transfers, but I'm staying calm. We'll see what happens. We'll only know more when the transfer window is over. But I'm not worried about Onyedika. I've been in football for thirty years: I'm not stupid.”
What Osimhen said
As Pulse Sports reported, Victor Osimhen has confirmed he is actively trying to persuade his international teammates, Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika, to join him at Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray.
"I spoke with Onyedika during the Africa Cup of Nations. I also spoke with Lookman during the matches we played for the World Cup,” Osimhen said.
Galatasaray are reportedly looking to bolster their squad for the second half of the season as they compete for domestic titles and aim for a strong showing in European competition. Onyedika has been identified as a key transfer target for the Istanbul club.
