Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not waste time to start his Nigerian star as he looked to kick off the new season in style.

Ndidi, the Nigerian international, went on to play a key role in the match, featuring for 70 minutes as Besiktas, managed by former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, claimed a perfect start to the season.

During his time on the pitch, Ndidi, 28, completed 86% of his passes, won one tackle, three ground duels and made two clearances.

But the game’s first goal came in the 19th minute when ex-Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham put Besiktas ahead. The visitors, however, fought back to level the score 1-1 by halftime, making it a tense contest.

In a dramatic finish, Rafa Silva popped up in added time to score a stunning 96th-minute winner, sealing all three points for Besiktas and giving Solskjaer a victorious debut as manager in Turkish football.

Ndidi’s contribution in midfield was instrumental in controlling the game and helping Besiktas secure their first win of the new season.
