Barcelona plans to offer Frenkie de Jong a new contract, keeping him at the club until 2028.
The Dutch midfielder's current contract expires in 12 months, and the Catalans are determined to secure an extension before the start of the new season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is offering a two-year extension to his current deal, keeping him at the Camp Nou until 2028, with an option for a further year.
The current sticking point is that Barcelona isn't sure who to negotiate with. De Jong has expressed his desire to part ways with his agent, Ali Dursun, but the situation remains unresolved.
The Dutch midfielder recently spoke publicly about his future and clearly stated his hope to sign a new contract with Barcelona. If he signs this contract and the option for an additional year is activated, De Jong will be 32 years old and celebrating 10 years at the club when the deal expires in 2029.
The Dutchman joined the Spanish giants in 2019 from Ajax for €86 million. He has made 259 appearances for the Catalan club, scoring 19 goals and providing 23 assists.
