The Barcelona family at Inter Miami continues to grow as Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez joins Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba in the MLS.

Messi’s decision to ditch a return to Barcelona for an adventure in Miami after his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired has sparked a coming-together of old friends at Inter Miami.

Following Messi’s arrival in the MLS, he was swiftly joined by the Spanish duo of Busquets and Alba, who relinquished the last year on their contracts at Barcelona to join the Argentine World Cup winner in Inter Miami.

Now the trio have been joined by another former Barcelona star, Suarez, who was with the Blaugrana between 2014 and 2020.

Inter Miami announce ‘iconic’ signing

In an official statement, Inter Miami announced Suarez’ signing saying, “Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and Conmebol Copa América winner and five-time LaLiga champion Luis Suárez to a contract running through the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

“The iconic Uruguayan striker will join the team ahead of the 2024 MLS season after being named the Best Player and Best Striker in the Brazilian league thanks to his 26 goals and 17 assists over 53 appearances, and leading Grêmio to win the Campeonato Gaúcho and Recopa Gaúcha.”

Suarez enjoyed an impressive spell with Brazilian side Gremio in his last assignment, where he scored 29 goals in 54 appearances in all competitions.

Inter Miami will hope that the star forward can replicate such performances in America and improve their fortune from last season.
