Akor Adams made an immediate impact upon his return to the Sevilla matchday squad after his sojourn to the AFCON.

Akor Adams came off the bench to score a brace, which helped Sevilla come from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw and a point from two goals down.

Elche raced into a two-goal lead with Aleix Febas and German Valera scoring in either half to give them a two-goal cushion. Adams replaced Peque Fernandez at halftime and halved the deficit in the 75th minute, before burying a late penalty to natch a point.

Sevilla's last victory was a 4-0 win against Real Oviedo in mid-December, with Adams in the line-up and on the scoresheet. Since he left for the AFCON, they lost four straight matches and were on course to lose this one before he came off the bench to rescue a point.

Akor carried his form from the AFCON, in which he scored two goals and provided two assists for the Super Eagles, on course for a third-place finish. Los Nervionenses would hope Adams' return will inspire an uptick in form and take them to the top half of the table.

Key match details

Elche seized the initiative in the 14th minute, with Aleix Febas finishing smartly into the bottom corner after cutting inside and meeting an incisive through ball from Martim Neto.

In the 55th minute, Elche doubled their lead when Germán Valera arrived at the back post to slot home a drilled finish after a well-worked build-up down the left flank. The goal seemed to put the hosts in control, with Sevilla struggling to create clear openings despite increased possession.

Sevilla slowly grew into the game and finally broke through in the 75th minute when Akor Adams steered the ball in from close range, giving the visitors hope of a comeback.

As the match ticked into stoppage time and tensions rose, Sevilla were awarded a penalty following a defensive foul in the box. Adams stepped up to take it and coolly converted in the 92nd minute, completing his brace and earning Sevilla a point in dramatic fashion.
