What happened?

As reported by The Sun, the 28-year-old mother of Wan-Bissaka’s child is accused of losing control of her Mercedes G-Class SUV while overtaking a street sweeper on a 30mph road in Brentwood, Essex, back in September.

The collision allegedly struck a pedestrian in her 50s, leaving her with life-changing injuries that have rocked the community.

Exclusive photos from The Sun captured the emotional scene as the couple were spotted arriving together at Colchester magistrates’ court in a blacked-out van.

Wan-Bissaka wore a black padded jacket as he watched quietly from the public gallery alongside a friend. Francis, dressed simply in a white skirt and grey cardigan, spoke only to confirm her details—name, age, and address—before her lawyer stepped in.

Her defense attorney, Daniel Jackson, urged the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to downgrade the charge from dangerous driving to the lesser careless driving offense.

The stakes are high. If convicted of dangerous driving, Francis could face up to five years behind bars.

A guilty finding on careless driving might mean a maximum of two years, potentially suspended, offering a lighter path if the case shifts.

Francis, who has been with the former Manchester United and Crystal Palace defender since 2020, did not flee the scene and cooperated with a voluntary police interview after being charged last month via postal requisition. Wan-Bissaka has kept a low profile on the personal drama amid his Premier League commitments.
