4 reasons why Chelsea should sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

Cristiano Ronaldo has not missed a step since moving to the Saudi League to join Al-Nassr and Chelsea are desperately in need of goals after a disastrous season.

Ronaldo has scored 14 goals in 18 appearances for Al-Nassr and the former Manchester United and Real Madrid goal machine remains in spectacular shape.

Chelsea on the other hand have struggled badly in every department this season, most especially, in front of goal. With the likes of Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane proving either ungettable or too expensive, CR7 could be a short-term option.

1. Ronaldo guarantees goals

No matter how you spin it, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown he can put the ball in the net. Chelsea are so bad in front of goal, they have only scored 37 league goals in 37 games this season.

Signing the Portuguese legend and surrounding him with creativity is almost a guarantee that the lack of goals will be a thing of the past

2. Excite the fans again

Chelsea have been disappointing all season

The Chelsea fans have had nothing exciting to look forward to since the first few weeks of Graham Potter’s reign. After the Todd Boehly-led £600m splurge on players, the team actually looks worse.

A signing like Cristiano Ronaldo will inspire the fans again and give them something to look forward to on match days.

3. New lease of life for Ronaldo

The 38-year-old certainly believes he is still the best player in the world and while the Saudi League continues to grow, there is nowhere better to show that he can still cut it than the Premier League.

Before his time at Manchester United was cut short (by his own doing) Ronaldo was coming off the back of a 24-goal season. He will believe he can replicate that.

4. Lack of European football means a less demanding schedule

Chelsea’s mid-table finish means no European football next season which could prove to be a blessing in disguise.

With one game a week, there is more time to work on tactics, train and give players adequate rest. Something Ronaldo would no doubt benefit from if he were to arrive.

Bottom line, Cristiano Ronaldo guarantees goals and this is a move Chelsea should consider making, at least in the short term.
